The Hijri Calendar

The Hijri calendar is a lunar calendar. It contains 12 months that are based on the motion of the moon. Each month of the Hijri Calendar is either 29 days or 30 days. The Hijri Calendar was introduced by the second rightly guided Caliph Omar ibn al-Khattab.

Years of the Hijri Calendar are counted since the Hijra, the migration of the Prophet Mohammed from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD.

Request to return Library Books
The MIA Library committee would like to request all library members as well as community members in possession of any library books and/or materials to return them to the library at their earliest convenience. The library committee would like to conduct an inventory of all books and materials. Once all books have been accounted for, the committee will announce a re-opening date. Inshallah, January of 2008. The committee would like to thank everyone for their effort and cooperation. Please return books and materials to any current MIA executive member or at the library when open.
