The Assiniboine Credit Union (ACU) is pleased to announce that it will soon have a new mortgage product tailored to the needs of the Muslim community. This Islamic mortgage contract was achieved under the leadership of Shaikh Hosni Azzabi, the Imam of the Manitoba Islamic Association, and his advisors, Br. Youssef Bezzahou and Br. Imran Khan AND in consultation with other reputed scholars from Canada and US.
Prior to the launch of the ACU Islamic mortgage in early 2010, ACU plans to hold one or more community workshops to explain the features of the product. If you are interested in receiving information on the ACU Islamic Mortgage or attending one of the ACU workshops please complete the Sign Up Card at the ACU table during Eid Al-Adha and ACU will contact you when more details are available. |

This will give University Students and students entering University the opportunity to receive a scholarship based on academic merit, financial need and commitment to the Muslim community. الـحـمـد لله و الـصّـلاة و الـسّـلام عـلـى سـيّـدنـا مـحـمّـد رسـولالله و عـلـى آلـه و صـحـبـه و مـن والاه Eid al-fitr 1430H/ 2009 Eid al-fitr is on Sunday, September 20, 2009. (Click here for location/time) Based on moon sighting and astronomical calculation, 1stShawwal, Eid al-fitr, is on Sunday, September 20, 2009. The new astronomical moon for the month of Shawwal1430H/2009 is on Friday September 19, at 18:44 UT (13:44 LT). Saturday September 19th is the 29th ofRamadan. On this day the moon will be 19+ hours and will set after sunset in differentcountries/cities including Canada. The moon sighting reported from certaincountries/cities is determined to be reliable. On Saturday September 19th, the moon at sunsettime will be 29h: 49m and sets 7 minutes before sunset. However, in Toronto themoon will be 28h: 37m and sets 4 minutes after sunset. Similarly, in Ottawa the moon will be 28h:21m and sets 1minute after sunset. Taking into consideration this scientific facts and Based onthe criteria adopted by MIA (reliable sighting of the moon) which takes itsauthority from the Prophetic hadith “Fast when you see it [the crescent], andbreak your fast when you see it; and if it is clouded upon you/obscured fromyou, then complete it as thirty days” [Hadith reported by Bukhari and Muslim] MIA in consultation with Imam Shaikh Hosni are pleased toannounce that Saturday September 19th will be the 29th ofRamadan and Sunday September 20th will be the first day of Shawwal,the Day of Eid al-Fitr. Based on the moon sighting and astronomical calculations, Eid al-Fitr 1429 will be on Wednesday October 1st, 2008. The astronomical calculations determined that the new astronomical moon, for the month of Shawal 1429, is on September 29th at 8:12 Universal Time (3:12 am Winnipeg, MB local time). On Monday September 29th, it is impossible to see the moon because it sets before sunset. For example in Winnipeg, as well as in Calgary, the moon sets 19 min before sunset. And it sets 21 min before sunset in Victoria (BC). |
