Ramadan is tentatively expected to start on Tuesday July the 9th, depending on moon sighting. The criteria of Itihad Al-Mattalie – accepting credible moon sighting from anywhere in the world – will be followed in determining the beginning of Ramadan. Once confirmed sightings are reported, the fiqh committee – made up of Sheikh Atef, Dr. Sadek, Sheikh Ammar- will confirm the date and announcements will be sent. Ramadan schedules are being prepared and will be printed and posted on websites very soon.

[Jul 7th] MIA Ramadan bake sale
When: Sunday, July 7th, 2013
Time: 2:00 PM (After Dhuhur)
The Annual Pre-Ramadan bake sale will be held on Sunday July 07 after Zuhr (2:00 PM) at the Waverly mosque. A rich variety of food items and other materials will be available for sale. Some of the food items on sale can be frozen and used during Ramadan. All proceeds will go to mosque operation. Please bring your friends and enjoy the food.
The MIA Extraordinary Meeting called for by MIA EC, in accordance to Article XIV, Section 1 (c) of the MIA constitution, was held on June 01, 2013 at the Grand mosque on Waverley. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and ratify proposed amendments to the MIA constitution. The amended constitution was drafted by an MIA Ad-hoc Constitution Committee and reviewed by various experts. Prior to the meeting (about 2 weeks) copies of the draft constitution was mailed to all registered members of MIA, as required by the constitution. The newly amended constitution and by-law was fully ratified by the MIA General Assembly. Copy of the newly ratified constitution is available on MIA website or by clicking here.
The MIA will be holding a summer day camp – Monday to Thursday – at the Waverley mosque from July 02 to August 30 (for 2 month). The day camp will be managed by the MIA Al-Noor weekend school.
