The Manitoba Islamic Association has an opening for a full-time bookkeeper.

Location:          

2445 Waverley St. Position may require occasional work from other MIA locations such as 247 Hazelwood Ave or 406 Edmonton Ave.

Job Description:

  • Maintain bookkeeping and office records, copying and filing information as required
  • Produce reports/statements and invoices, ensuring bills and invoices are paid on time
  • Reconcile accounts, maintaining and balancing accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping system (QuickBooks online)
  • Work with Treasurer and other staff with excellent customer service
  • Preparing and filing GST
  • Preparing monthly financial statements for the board of directors
  • Preparing annual financial statements for review by the board and MIA members.
  • Preparing and submitting all necessary documents and information needed for the external auditors to conclude their audit on time. Responds to their inquiries promptly.
  • Integrate and ensure data and information flow from the bookkeeping system to and from the donor management system.
  • If not already, become knowledgeable in CRA regulations and requirements regarding Canadian charities.
  • Submits information for payroll processing accurately and promptly.
  • Identifies ways to implement best accounting practices and to improve organizational efficiency and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of Canadian Bookkeeping experience
  • Fluent in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends if needed
  • Must pass a credit check and police record
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft office, (including excel, windows, word and outlook)
  • Familiar with payroll, A/R and A/P cycles
  • Has good organization and attention to detail and excellent communication
  • Flexible to the needs of MIA
