Community Programs and Events Coordinator

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and organized individual to join our team as Community Programs and Events Coordinator. You will be responsible for developing and implementing programming initiatives, coordinating with existing program organizers and executing events to support the Manitoba Islamic Association.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in programming and event management, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Job Description:

  • Plan, organize and manage community events of varying size and scope.
  • Coordination with existing programs and events.
  • Assess diverse community’s needs and develop programming to meet these needs.
  • Develop schedules for programs and events.
  • Coordinate with staff, volunteers and board to make sure communications, finance, advertising, budget, and logistics are working together.
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers, to ensure excellent delivery of programs and events.  Effectively communicate with the community: email, social media, and announcements.
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers.
  • Ability to think critically and help solve any problems that may arise.
  • Build positive relations with staff and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement an evaluation system.
  • Keep up to date data of all programming for grant purposes.
  • Reporting to the MIA Board on a quarterly basis with updates on programs and events to ensure there is development, implementation and success.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Must be hands-on, detail oriented with analytical skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in a changing environment.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in a related field (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years experience coordinating community programs and events
  • Excellent Computer Skills: Able to navigate all programs used by Manitoba Islamic Association
  • Excellent Communication skills: Able to work with diverse community members, MIA staff, MIA volunteers and MIA board members.

Additional Information

Community Programs and Events Coordinator will often work long hours, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Flexible working at different locations within the organization.

Compensation: $25-$27/hr, dependent on experience.
