The newly appointed MIA Fundraising Committee is planning on a series of fundraising initiatives to raise funds for MIA. A major event is being planned for May 26, details will follow soon. The committee is also beginning a drive to encourage members of the community to make regular monthly contributions through monthly pledges.
Our ability to provide you with better services, maintaining our mosques and initiating new projects will depend on availability of funds and your generous contributions. Please find attached a monthly pledge form you can use to make regular contributions. We urge you all to fill the form and submit it to any EC member or Office Administrator or mail it to:

Job posting – Caretaker:
The MIA owned two mosques need a lot of work in terms of maintenance, cleaning, monitoring, safety checks etc. Based on the reviews done by the maintenance committee and the inspection team, the two mosques, particularly the Waverley, has many outstanding maintenance problems that need immediate attention e.g. leaking pipes, broken walls, twisted doors, molded ceilings, general misuse of facility etc. The needs of these two premises go beyond simple regular cleaning. Accordingly, the EC has decided to hire a full time care taker to clean, to do basic maintenance, to monitor both premises, to regularly review all safety measures, ensure timely repairs etc.
Hiring a care taker will add additional cost to the annual budget ofMIA, but given the magnitude of the work needed in both mosques, we believe it is worth it and will save us funds in the long run. To ensure we meet all of MIA’s budgeted expenses, our EC has established a dedicated fundraising committee, which will make concerted efforts to meet budget targets. We kindly ask you all to donate generously.
Please find attached the job description of the care taker. Please encourage suitable candidates you may know to apply.
Tickets for the March 24 event are selling fast. Please buy your tickets soon. No tickets will be sold at the doors. Please see the poster for details.
The MIA Events Committee has prepared an annual tentative schedule of events for the year 2012 (1433 Hijri) -see the schedule below-. The committee is committed to making this year eventful and will work hard to better organize recurring events such as Ramadan and Eid. If you would like to individually or as a business sponsor some of these activities, you may contact: MIA Secretary and Events Director at:osaed.khan@miaonline.org or events@miaonline.org.
This calendar doesn’t include other educational and sports activities or activities geared to smaller segments of the community or ad-hoc activities that might occur in the future. As well, it doesn’t include many other activities planned by other local organizations. By the will of Allah, we will co-ordinate with other organizations and attempt to develop a much larger and all inclusive calendar.
