Embracing Diversity in Manitoba Education

K-12 Toolkit

In 2022, the Manitoba Islamic Association published its report Friendly Manitoba: Community Experiences with Islamophobia,  provincially in the spring of 2022. One of the key findings of the report was the prevalence of Islamophobic experiences in educational settings.

This website presents Manitoba educators with a toolkit to address Islamophobia in their school community. It also provides resources to enhance their understanding of the faith and culture of Muslim students and their families.

The toolkit is designed to be practical and applicable to Manitoba classrooms. It  has been developed with a  Culturally Relative Pedagogy, using the Anti-bias Anti-racist (ABAR) frameworks in mind.

FRIENDLY MANITOBA: Community Experiences with Islamophobia

This report presents the results of a survey that examined Muslim Manitobans’ experiences of Islamophobia.  Close to 200 Manitobans participated in a survey that captured demographic information and the respondents’ experiences and perceptions of Islamophobia. In addition, 9 community leaders were directly interviewed.
